The Future X Network: Enabling a New Digital Era

bellabsIn the telecoms and technology industry, we are always looking to predict the future. We want to know how consumer demands and requirements are changing, understand how technology will evolve, and predict the impact these will both have on networks and services.

So to complement all the exclusive future-facing content at this year’s Broadband World Forum, Bell Labs are getting ready to share their own vision for the future with you, by launching “The Future X Network – A Bell Labs Perspective”.

Looking at the how Bell Labs sees the future unfolding and exploring the key technology breakthroughs that will enable the next digital era, this exclusive insight will help you to visualize the future for your organization and the industry you work in.

Picking up the key themes from Bell Lab’s introduction, they predict that the next digital era will be defined by the evolution of IoT, where everything and everyone will be connected. When this is matched with the surge in digital information analysis and seemingly infinite capacity through cloud integrated networks, human existence will be transformed.

We are delighted to be able to offer you not only an exclusive sneak peak of the book and a 20% discount if purchased onsite, but also the chance to have your copy signed by author Marcus Weldon, President of Bell Labs.

Alcatel Lucent will be carrying out signings at 16:10 on Tuesday 20th October at their stand (C10). To attend the book signing and secure your discounted copy, simply register for a free visitor pass to Broadband World Forum.

The Future X Network – A Bell Labs Perspective

We are at the dawn of an era in networking that has the potential to define a new phase of human existence. This era will be defined by the digitization and connection of everything and everyone with the goal of automating much of life, effectively creating time, by maximizing the efficiency of everything we do, and augmenting our intelligence, with knowledge that expedites and optimizes decision-making and everyday routines and processes.

This futuristic vision would, on the surface, seem to be the stuff of science fiction, rather than rational technological thinking and analysis; however, we are at a unique moment in time. There is a confluence of common technological elements and human needs (consumer and enterprise) that is driving a convergence of players and market segments (e.g., IT/Web and Telecom/Networking), as well as the emergence of new business models.

In essence this is a classic supply demand equation but one that is about to be rebalanced as the demand becomes increasingly common between consumer and enterprise, and will be satisfied using a set of standard, scalable technologies, so that an optimization of supply makes it possible to meet this demand with innovative new value propositions
